The Eighth "play for real money" WeBL
tournament will begin soon!! (really) The current entry deadline is July 7th.
Official Rules
- To enter you have to put $10 in the pot. 70% of the
pot will be distributed to the winners. Enter through paypal
using the link below, and be sure to let me know what gym to apply the payment to!!!
- This will be a Super-Bantamweight division tournament with 105APs
per fighter. Fighter ratings will be increased to 25 at the start
(which affects the percentage of punches that land), but note that APs
will not increase during the tournament, even though rating will.
When your payment has been processed, you will have a line in your
gym page like this:
You have been invited to participate in the latest official tournament.
and there will be a link you can use to create your fighter.
It is your reponsibility to create a Super-Bantamweight fighter.
- The tournament starts out as double elimination. A fighter
keeps fighting until he loses twice, then he's eliminated.
When the number of fighters is down to 3 or 4, the remaining
fighters will fight round robin (everybody fights everybody
once). The fighter with the fewest number of total losses at the end
of the round robin is declared the winner, the fighter with the second
fewest is 2nd place, etc. Ties are possible.
- Prizes will be awarded as follows:
- 1st Place $4/entrant
- 2nd Place $2/entrant
- 3rd Place $1/entrant
For example if there are 25 entrants in the tournament, then 1st place
wins $100, 2nd place $50, and 3rd place wins $25.
In the event of a tie, money may be split. (For example, if two
fighters are tied first place, they will split ($4+$2)/entrant
and each receive $3/entrant).
- The normal WeBL scheduler is at work (with status and rating,
etc.) But when there are an odd number of fighters, one fighter will
have to sit out a week, which is a significant advantage. The fighter
who gets this "bye" will be determined by the following procedure:
- Let "X" be the absolute value of the change in the Dow average for
Monday of that week. (Example: If the dow declines by 56.32 points,
then X is "56".)
- Let "Y" be the number of surviving fighters who have not received a bye
so far in the tournament. (Suppose, for the sake of an example,
this number is "21".)
- Let "R" be the remainder when dividing X by Y (With X=56 and Y=21,
R is 14).
- The bye will go to the R'th fighter (among those who have not yet
had a bye) on the rankings page.
- The standard WeBL simulator is used, but the no luck
option (from the practice fights page) is set. This eliminates
controversial judging, as well as randomness in punches landed and
damage. As in all tournaments there are no draws. In the event of a
draw, the referee awards the bout to the fighter who inflicted the
most damage. In the extremely unlikely event that each fighter
inflicted an identical amount of damage, the choice is random.
- Fighters will not gain APs for winning fights.
(But could still lose them by accumulating injury points.)
- Please note that, as always, we are not responsible
if the system becomes unavailable for any reason. Get your fight plans
in as early as possible! Also, we are not responsible
for any bugs in the software, though I don't think there are any. :)
